Poroshenko: Ukraine will have the gas and heating

Price for gaz supplied to Ukraine seems to be set – it will be $385 dollars per 1,000 cubic metres, down from the current price of $485.

Ukraine’s President Petro Poroshenko confirmed that an agreement has been reached with Russia on a provisional price for gas supply during the winter months, Aljazeera reports.

Poroshenko stated the agreement was reached during the talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Milan earlier on  October 17. “Hopefully, this will finally put an end to the gas dispute between the two countries,” Poroshenko said. He also voiced hope that the solution would be finalized before October 21, at the forthcoming talks in Brussels.

“Based on consultations, I can say that Ukraine will have the gas and heating,” Poroshenko said at an interview to one of local TV channels.

Putin also implied a deal was close and said there had been “progress” and “agreement on the conditions for the resumption of deliveries of gas, at least in winter period”.
