Armenian FM, French official discuss forthcoming meeting of Presidents

On October 15 Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian received Eric Fournier, Head  of the Continental Europe Department of French MFA who has arrived in Yerevan to participate in consultations held between the Foreign Ministries.

Welcoming the guest, the Foreign Minister expressed satisfaction with the existing high-level Armenian-French privileged bilateral relations, and underlined that it serves as a solid basis for further enhancing and expanding of multi-dimensional cooperation between the two countries.

During the meeting the sides touched upon the questions of development of bilateral relations, collaboration in the framework of international organizations.They also had an exchange of views concerning pressing issues of international and regional agenda.

The sides also discussed Armenia-EU partnership and cooperation in this framework.

The agenda of the meeting also included questions concerning activation of partnership in the framework of the Francophonie Organization.

During the discussions on the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process Minister Nalbandian stressed the importance of joint efforts of France, as well as other Co-Chair Countries of the OSCE Minsk Group- Russia and the United States, towards the exclusively peaceful settlement of the issue. In this context the sides touched upon the preparatory works of the upcoming meeting between the Presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan at the initiative of the President of France, which will take place in Paris at the end of October.
