Armenia is expected to join the Eurasian Economic Union on October 10. Tigran Kocharyan, an expert in information security, considers this step will be of political significance for Armenia.

According to him, Russia is interested in Armenia’s accession to the Union from the political perspective with a view of expanding the field of its influence. In case of Kazakhstan and Belarus, the economic interests are prevailing, Kocharyan told reporters today.

He said the creation of the new Union does not mean resurrection of the “late” Soviet Union.

Speaking about the reciprocal sanctions applied by Russia and the West, the expert said they will inevitably affect the economic situation in our country.
