Senate panel to examine nominations of US Ambassadors to Armenia, Azerbaijan

The US Senate Foreign Relations Committee will hold hearings on September 17 to examine the nominations of Richard M. Mills, Jr., of Texas, to be Ambassador to the Republic of Armenia and Robert Francis Cekuta, of New York, to be Ambassador to the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The Committee will also consider the nominations of US Ambassadors Macedonia and Montenegro, according to the Senate’s official website.

In July President Barack Obama nominated Richard M. Mills, Jr. as his pick to become the US Ambassador to Armenia. If confirmed by the Senate, Mills will replace current ambassador John Heffern.

Mills is currently Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy Beirut, where he began his tour in 2012.
