On September 11, NKR Foreign Minister Karen Mirzoyan started a visit to the Basque Country.
On the first day of the visit, Karen Mirzoyan met with Martin Garitano Larrañaga, President of Gipuzkoa province of the Basque Country. Martin Garitano Larrañaga welcomed Karen Mirzoyan and stated that Gipuzkoa province recognized Artsakh as an independent state and expressed confidence that the Nagorno Karabakh Republic and the Basque Country would achieve international recognition.
In his turn, Karen Mirzoyan thanked for the hospitality and marked the importance of the relations being established with the Basque Country. During the meeting, the parties touched upon the prospects and possibilities for the cooperation and discussed a range of issues of mutual interest.
Later the day, Karen Mirzoyan had a number of working meetings with representatives of different departments of the provincial government, where a range of issues related to the cooperation between the sides in different spheres were discussed.
The NKR Foreign Minister also met with representatives of the business circles of Gipuzkoa province and visited some enterprises. Issues of the cooperation in different spheres, in particular, the energy and agricultural sectors, were discussed.
A meeting with representatives of the University of the Basque Country (Bilbao city) also took place. The ways of establishing cooperation between the University of the Basque Country and Artsakh State University were discussed. Working agreements were achieved at the meeting.
During the meetings, Karen Mirzoyan was accompanied by Eduardo Lorenzo Ochoa, Director of European Friends of Armenia organization.
