The newly appointed Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu recently blamed Armenia for the lack of progress in the normalization of the Armenian-Turkish relations and asserted once again that the Armenian side did not even respond to the Turkish Prime Minister’s letter in 2005.
Commenting on the statement, Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Shavarsh Kocharyan said: “I would not like to believe that the response of the Armenian side after the Turkish Prime Minister’s letter of April 25, 2005, has not been kept in the archives of the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.”
“Turkey is consistently following the policy of denial of the Armenian Genocide and is constantly taking vain attempts to distort and deny the historic facts,” Shavarsh Kocharyan said in comments to Public TV.
“It’s this approach of the Turkish side that hinders the normalization of the Armenian-Turkish relations,” the Deputy Foreign Minister said.
