High-level talks on the Karabakh issue have intensified in the recent period. After the two meetings mediated by the Russian President and the US Secretary of State, the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan will meet again in Paris at the initiative of French President Francois Hollande.

Giro Manoyan, Head of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation Bureau’s Hay Dat and Political Affairs Office, is skeptical about the results of the meetings.

“Azerbaijan will hardly change its stance after these meetings,” Manoyan told reporters today. He added, however, that the “mediating courtiers are thus trying to reduce the probability of war.”

Giro Manoyan welcomed the measure adopted by the Greek Parliament, which criminalizes the denial of genocides. At the same time, he reminded about a similar bill adopted by Switzerland, the legitimacy of which is now being considered at the European Court of Human Rights.

Manoyan considers that Armenia’s accession to the Eurasian Economic Union will not be delayed any more. He said all obstacles seem to have been eliminated, and Armenia will join the Union in October.

As for the reports on Pope Francis’ possible visit to Armenia, Girno Manoyan said “the Armenian side is yet to confirm the information.” At the same time he hailed the Pontiff’s stance on the international recognition of the Armenian Genocide.
