Armenian President, Russian FM discuss bilateral, international issues

President Serzh Sargsyan received today Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, who has arrived in Armenia for a two-day official visit.

Greeting the guest, President Sargsyan voiced hope that the visit would become an important step on the path of reinforcement of allied relations between the two countries.

Serzh Sargsyan underlined that the agreements reached within the framework of the Russian President’s state visit to Armenia and the meeting in Moscow on May 8 have enriched the bilateral agenda and the implementation of those agreements will inevitably serve as a serious impetus for the development of relations in all spheres – from coordination of activity on the foreign policy field to humanitarian cooperation.

Sergey Lavrov conveyed the greetings of Russian President Vladimir Putin and assured that his President is committed to all agreements reached with  Serzh Sargsyan.

The Russian Foreign Minister briefed President Sargsyan on the results of his meeting with his Armenian counterpart Edward Nalbandian. He said they referred to a wide range of issues related to Armenian-Russian cooperation within the framework of international organizations – the UN, the OSCE, the Council of Europe, the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization and others.

The Armenian President and the Russian Foreign Minister discussed the process of implementation of high-level agreements in all directions and outlined the future steps targeted at reinforcement of multifaceted cooperation.
