Armenian President to visit Austria

President Serzh Sargsyan will leave for Austria today for an official visit, President’s Press Office reports.

Within the framework of the visit, Presidents Serzh Sargsyan of Armenia and Heinz Fischer of Austria are to hold a one-on-one meeting followed by negotiations with the participation of the official delegations. As a result of the negotiations, documents aimed at advancing the Armenian-Austrian cooperation in a number of spheres will be signed. The Presidents of Armenia and Austria will sum up the negotiation results at a joint press conference.

In Vienna, the President of Armenia will hold meetings with the President of the Austrian National Council Barbara Prammer, Chancellor Werner Faymann, the Mayor of Vienna Michael Haupl and the Cardinal Archbishop of Vienna Christoph Schonborn. Additionally, Serzh Sargsyan will visit the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber. Before taking part in the opening ceremony of an Armenian-Austrian economic forum together with President Heinz Fischer, the president will hold a meeting with the President of the Chamber Christoph Leitl.

At the United Nations Office in Vienna, the President of Armenia will hold meetings with the representatives of the organization UN Deputy Secretary-General and the Executive Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime Yuri Fedotov, the Director-General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization Li Yong, the Executive Secretary of the Preparatory Commission for the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization Lassina Zerbo and the Director-General of the International Atomic Energy Agency Yukiya Amano.

Moreover, Serzh Sargsyan is going to participate in the opening ceremony of Armenia multifunctional (economic, financial, cultural, informational) center in Vienna.

On his official visit, President Serzh Sargsyan will visit the memorial to the famous Austrian writer and humanitarian Franz Werfel to pay tribute to his memory and place flowers at the memorial. Furthermore, at Saint Hripsime Armenian Apostolic Church he will pay tribute to the memory of the Armenian Genocide victims and will place flowers at the monument. Serzh Sargsyan is also due to visit the Mekhitarist Congregation in Vienna.
