Mkhitaryan earns Klopp praise

Borussia Dortmund manager Jurgen Klopp has applauded midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan for the manner in which he bounced back to form in Saturday’s 3-0 victory over Bayern Munich.

The Armenia international had a disappointing night against Real Madrid days before, which saw his side fall short of progressing to the semi-finals on goal difference.

He impressed his boss with a convincing outing against Bayern however, where he netted the opener to set the tone for the encounter.

“He (Mkhitaryan) felt like it was all his fault, which of course is nonsense and that’s what we told him,” Klopp said, goal.com reports.

“You have to take risks otherwise you don’t do enough (on the pitch). If you make mistakes you have to learn how to deal with them.

“That’s something (Mkhitaryan is) able to do, of course, but this particular mistake was of great importance for him to deal with.

“He took it very seriously, which is something we all do. His reaction in Munich obviously was fantastic,” he added.

BVB will again rely on the midfielder’s creativity to spark their attacks when they tackle Wolfsburg in the DFB Pokal semi-finals on Wednesday.
