Russia concerned over escalation in Karabakh conflict zone

The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has expressed concern over the escalation in the Karabakh conflict zone.

“The increased number of ceasefire violations at the line of contact has claimed the lives of servicemen. There arte reports about casualties among the peaceful population,” the Ministry said in a statement.

“Further escalation will inevitably lead to negative consequences in the process of settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict. It may seriously complicate the realization of the agreements reached at the Armenian-Azerbaijani summit in Vienna on November 19, 2013.”

Russia urges the parties to the conflict to take additional measures targeted at the stabilization of the situation, including the implementation of the mechanisms envisaged by the Arrangement on strengthening the ceasefire  signed on February 4, 1995.
