Azeri provocations create obstacles for progress in the peace talks, Armenian President says

President Serzh Sargsyan received today the EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the Crisis in Georgia, Philippe Lefort, who has arrived in Armenia for a farewell visit, President’s Press Office reported.

The President said the important position of the EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the Crisis in Georgia proves the interest of the European Union towards the region’s security and stability.

Serzh Sargsyan expressed gratitude to Ambassador Lefort for his contribution to the deepening of the cooperation between the European Union and the Republic of Armenia, as well as the efforts made to foster regional peace and security. Serzh Sargsyan wished Philippe Lefort success in his further activity.

Touching upon Nagorno Karabakh peace process within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group, President Sargsyan expressed his deep concern regarding the latest cases of provocation and violations of the ceasefire regime by the Azerbaijani side on the Karabakh-Azerbaijan border, and underlined that they create serious obstacles for the further progress of the peace process.
