Over the past days the Armenian-Azerbaijani confrontation has escalated not only on the battlefield, but also on the web. Hackers from both parties have attacked a number of websites.
IT expert Samvel Martirosyan says the Azerbaijani side was the initiator of the cyber war. The current attacks are dedicated to the anniversary of the Armenian massacres in Baku, and the next wave is expected ahead of the anniversary of the Khojalu events at the end of February, the expert said.
Speaking to reporters today, Vice-President of the Internet Society NGO Grigor Sahyan attached importance to the improvement of cyber security, which is being done in case of the websites of government agencies.
The websites that suffered in the most recent cyber attack mostly belong to private companies, he said.
Unlike real wars, there are no winners and losers in the cyber wars, Samvel Martirosyan said.
