Eurasian Economic Union to replace the Customs Union in 2015

Kazan is hosting a public forum on “Eurasian economic integration: achievements and problems” to discuss the development of the common infrastructure of the Eurasian Economic Union, as well as social, political, economic and cultural projects, business, trade, intellectual property.

Head of the Rossotrudnichestvo agency Konstantin Kosachev said in his opening remarks that Armenia is ready to join the Eurasian Economic Union and has taken steps in that direction.

“Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, India and other countries are next,” he added, ITAR-TASS reports.

The Eurasian Economic Union should come to replace the Customs Union from January 1st, 2015.

“We must create comfortable conditions for all – both the member states and those, which are going to join,” Kosachev said.

He noted that “creation of the international union is a global, not a regional project” and that the Eurasian Union is at the crucial point of development.
