Chairman of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian received today CoE Secretary General Thorbjørn Jagland, who has arrived in Yerevan to participate in the High Level Conference on Combating Racism, Xenophobia and Intolerance in Europe.
Minister Nalbandian thanked the CoE Secertary General for comprehensive support to activities of the Armenian Presidency.
Edward Nalbandian noted that the more than ten important events have been organized under the Armenian chairmanship, particularly emphasizing the Armenian President’s visit to Strasbourg, the conference on “European Legal Standards of Rule of Law and the Scope of Discretion of Powers in the Member-States of the Council of Europe,” the Exchange on the religious dimension of intercultural dialogue, the plenary sitting of the Consultative Council of European Prosecutors, the consultations of Mayors of Capital Cities of CoE member states, the Regional meeting of the ministers of education on the implementation of the European Higher Education Area and today’s High Level Conference on Combating Racism, Xenophobia and Intolerance in Europe.
The Foreign Minister noted that Armenia will continue to contribute to the furthering of the Council of Europe objectives with the same zeal.
The CoE Secretary General hailed the activity of the Armenian presidency. The interlocutors exchanged views on the future activity of the Council of Europe, the reforms implemented with the CoE framework and other issue son the agenda.
