The Armenian National Assembly today unanimously approved the President’s amnesty proposal on the occasion of the 22nd anniversary of Armenia’s independence. A total of 102 Members of Parliament participated in the voting.
The decision will come into force within 24 ours after the Speaker of the National Assembly signs it. About 400-500 prisoners will be immediately released under the amnesty. The whole process will be completed by December 25.
