Karabakh, Syria and Tehran’s nuclear programs on the agenda of meeting of Armenian, Iranian FMs

Armenian and Iranian Foreign Ministers Edward Nalbandian and Mohammad Javad Zarif met in New York on the sidelines of the 68th session of the UN General Assembly.

The sides hailed the high-level mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries, underlining that an evidence of this was Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan’s participation in the swearing-ceremony of his Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani.

During the meeting reference was made to the cooperation between the Parliaments of Armenia and Iran and the activity of the Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Groups.

The parties exchanged views on cooperation in the fields of trade and economy, energy and transport.

The Foreign Ministers discussed the efforts towards settlement of the Syria crisis and the negotiations on Iran’s nuclear programs.

Reference was made to the process of settlement of the Karabakh issue. In this context Iran’s Foreign Minister reiterated his support for the peaceful resolution of the conflict.

Edward Nalbandian invited his Iranian counterpart to Armenia.
