Armenian FM, UN Secretary General discuss Syria, Karabakh

On the sidelines of the 68th session of the UN General Assembly, Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian met with UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon.

The UN Secretary General hailed the active involvement of the Armenian diplomacy in different international processes.

The parties exchanged views on the Syria crisis and the resulting flow of refugees. Edward Nalbandian noted that Armenia has hosted more than 10 thousand Syrian Armenians, while tens of thousands of other Armenians, who comprise an integral part of the Syrian people, continue to live under the conditions of crisis.

The Armenian Foreign Minister and the UN Secretary General welcomed the Resolution on Syrian chemical weapon unanimously adopted by the Security Council on September 27 and stressed the need to uphold efforts to find a political solution to the issue.

Edward Nalbandian and Ban Ki-Moon referred to the negotiations on the Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement. Minister Nalabndian presented the efforts of Armenia and the international community towards the peaceful settlement of the conflict.
