President Serzh Sargsyan sent today a congratulatory message to the Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany Angela Merkel on the impressive victory of the Christian Democratic Union led by her at the elections for Bundestag, President’s Press Office reports. The message reads, in part:
“The third in a row victory of the Christian Democrats was predictable indeed. Under your wise leadership, in this difficult period of global challenges, Germany has not only withstood and continued to move forward but also offered a helping hand to a number of neighboring and friendly countries, further increasing its repute and standing on the international arena.
At the same time, progress registered during these elections testifies that thanks to your great professional abilities, years-long diligent and goal-oriented work and impeccable human characteristics you continue to enjoy trust of the German people.
I am confident that the Federal government under your leadership will remain committed to the continued development of the Armenian-German relations based on mutual trust and respect, which Armenia is greatly interested in.
As the leader of Armenia’s Republican Party, I also attach great importance to the cooperation existing between our two Parties and further deepening of relations, particularly in the framework of the EEP.
I cordially wish you great health, recurrent success in your state activities and I wish steady progress and prosperity to the friendly people of Germany.
