The first collective baptism ceremony will be held in the Armenian St. Cross Church on Akhtamar Island in Lake Van, akunq.net reports, quoting Turkish Ihlas news agency. The ceremony will take place on September 8 during the 4th mass to be served in the church after its reconstruction.
The Head of the Van Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism Muzaffer Aktuğ told the agency that preparatory works are underway. “Currently there is no problem. We want to organize the reception of the participants of the mass at a proper level. The peace process has positively affected tourism, as well.”
Aktuğ said the number of tourists has increased and added that he hopes more people will participate in the liturgy this year.
