Armenia, Romania interested in deepening economic ties

Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan received Romania’s Minister of Economy, Armenian Varuzhan Voskanyan, who has arrived in Yerevan to participate in the fourth sitting of the Armenian-Romanian Intergovernmental Commission.

“We attach great importance to the reinforcement of ties with Romania,” Tigran Sargsyan said. “There is great potential to expand the relations and the Intergovernmental Commission should shape an agenda and plan events that will allow to deepen our cooperation. I’m confident that your visit will give new impetus to the reinforcement of our ties,” he added.

Varuzhan Voskanyan underlined that the traditional high level of political relations between the two countries creates bases for the development of economic cooperation. He stressed the importance to conduct of the Armenian-Romanian Business Forum. The Minister said a Memorandum of Understanding had been signed between the Armenian-Romanian Association of Industry and Commerce and the Romania-Armenia Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The parties underlined that this would provide the Romanian businessmen with an opportunity to familiarize themselves with the investment climate in Armenia and  contribute to the development of tourism.

The interlocutors exchanged views on the launching of direct flights, development of tourism and intensification of economic ties.
