Despite some minor incidents, the voting in Yerevan was generally well-organized, said Stewart Dickson, head of the delegation of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe, which carried out monitoring at the Yerevan City Council elections on May 5.

On one hand, the cameras installed in polling stations help exclude election frauds, on the other hand, they may create an atmosphere of distrust, the observers said.

Stewart Dickson said that even in many developed European countries the elections are not exempt of frauds.

The final report of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe on the municipal elections in Yerevan will be released in Strasbourg at the end of October.
