Azerbaijan is responsible for the lack of progress in the process of settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict. It’s not Karabakh, Armenia or the Minsk Group Co-Chairs, Armenian Acting Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian said at a joint press conference with his Czech counterpart Karel Schwarzenberg.

Mr. Nalbandian said Armenia has agreed to the proposal of the OSCE Minsk Group to organize a meeting between the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan.

“As an EU member state the Czech Republic supports the efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group,” Nalbandian said. “We appreciate the balanced approach of the Czech Republic that the Karabakh conflict should be solved exceptionally in a peaceful way through negotiations,” he added.

Commenting on the recent statements of Czech MPs on “Khojaly events,” Karel Schwarzenberg noted the resolution had been adopted by the Foreign Relations Committee, not the whole Parliament.

“The Czech Republic stands against any human rights violation, but such things happen in wartime. However, this cannot be compared to what happened to Armenians,” the Czech Minister said.
