Russian Patriarch congratulates Armenian Catholicos on Easter

Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and all Russia has congratulated leaders of Christian churches on Easter.

“Christians today face many challenges: murderous wars continue in a number of regions and attempts to oust Christian values from public life remain,” the patriarch’s message, posted on the Moscow patriarchy’s website on Monday, said, according to Interfax.

Patriarch Kirill said that regardless of how difficult the environment was, Christian leaders were “to conquer together the evil of “this world” inspired by the words of the Lord: “Take courage: I have overcome the world.”

The message was addressed to Roman Pontiff Francis, Armenian Catholicos Karekin II, Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby of the Anglican Church, Chairman of the Evangelical Church Council in Germany Nikolaus Schneider and Archbishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland Kari Makinen.
