The first Talysh radio starts broadcasting from Shushi, Karabakh

The Voice of Talyshstan started its broadcasts from the city of Shushi, Nagorno Karabakh, on March 20 at the initiative of the Caucasus Center of Iranian Studies and the Modus Vivendi Center.

The radio is on air three hours a day, the programs are broadcast both in Talysh and Azerbaijani. Opening of the radio station was a unique gift for about 1.8 mln Talyshs living in Azerbaijan on the eve of Novruz.

This is the first Talysh radio station in the world, expert of Iranian studies, Professor Garnik Asatryan told reporters today. According to him, the radio does not pursue political purposes.

The Talysh radio presents cultural articles and music, touches upon issues Talysh people are concerned with.

Head of the Modus Vivendi Center Ara Papyan said the initiative is important particularly from the point of view of protection of human rights and national identity.

The Talysh Radio will launch its website in the near future.
