Armenian President attended the Pope’s inauguration Mass

Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan attended today the inauguration Mass for newly elected Pope Francis.

President Sargsyan congratulated his Holiness on his election as the Pope of Rome, and on assuming the mission of leading the Catholics of the world.

Serzh Sargsyan noted that this event has a special meaning for Armenians as the first nation to adopt Christianity as state religion.

President Serzh Sargsyan said he’s glad that the 266th occupant of the Throne of St. Peter is a friend of the Armenian nation, who’s familiar with our culture and history, something he has revealed on many occasions during his mission in Argentina.
