US to appoint new permanent Minsk Group Co-Chairs within a year

“The United States will appoint a permanent co-chair to the OSCE Minsk Group within a year,” Eric Rubin, U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs, said.
“This appointment is a priority for the Secretary of State Kerry. It is important to find a suitable candidate to replace the previous retired co-chair. Kerry will try to make an appointment during the first year of his tenure as Secretary of State,” Rubin said at the annual Congress of Turkic-American Union in Washington.
“The United States recognizes the unacceptable status quo. Not only because of human suffering behind it, but also because the status quo creates problems for both the involved countries and the region as a whole, “he added, Azeri media report.
