Exhibition and sale of women’s works at the “Hayartun” Cultural Center of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia

On March 7 by the initiative of the Association of Armenian Women of Georgia “Shushanik” and with the support of the “Hayartun” Cultural Center of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Orthodox Holy Church in Georgia in the Calouste Gulbenkian Hall of the “Hayartun” Cultural Center exhibition-sale of works of Armenian women in Georgia took place. The event was dedicated to the International Women’s Day. Handmade works of twenty women: carpets, tapestry samples, wedding gifts, jewelry, etc. – were exhibited.

The Head of the Association of Armenian Women of Georgia “Shushanik” Susanna Khachaturian opened the event. She presented the activities of the Association of Armenian Women of Georgia since 1996, and said that the main aims of the Association are the maintenance of the Armenian culture outside the homeland, increasing the role of women in family and society, celebration of the traditional customs and rituals and passing them to new generations. The speaker transferred to the audience warm congratulations and best wishes to all women in honor of March 8 on behalf of the Head of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Orthodox Church in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan.

The expert on the national minorities’ issues in the Office of the Public Defender of Georgia Izabella Osipova, the wife of Adviser at the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia to Georgia Lusine Afyan, and doctor Luara Abramova welcomed the opening of the exhibition.

Levon Chidilyan the coordinator of the “Hayartun” CulturalCenter on behalf of all men congratulated women with regard to their holiday.

The exhibition-sale was organized for charitable purposes. The amount received from the sale will be transmitted to the fund that helps needy elders.
