CEC Chairman meets with CIS observers

Chairman of the Central Electoral Commission of the Republic of Armenia Tigran Mukuchyan received the election observation mission of the CIS Inter-parliamentary Assembly. The head of mission Alexander Stoyangolo informed that another 30-35 observers will arrive in Armenia in the coming days.

According to preliminary monitoring, the Electoral Code of the Republic of Armenia provides all prerequisites for organizing and conducting the elections in full compliance with the international principles and norms of democracy, Stoyangolo said.

Attaching importance to the role of the periodic observation missions conducted by the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly, CEC President Tigran Mukuchyan briefed the guests on activities of the CEC ahead of the elections.

Tigran Mukuchyan stressed the importance of the transparency of electoral processes for raising the level of public trust.  He provided information about the nomination, registration of the candidates and the electoral campaign.
