IFFHS names Mkhitaryan the most popular player in Europe

Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder and Armenia international Henrikh Mkhitaryan was named the most popular player in Europe. Results of the vote, in which more than half a million people took part, were announced by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS).

Manchester City’s Edin Dzeko and Lazio’s Miroslav Klose took second and third places respectively behind Mkhitaryan.

The most popular players on other continents and in Oceania: 

Asia – Mehdi Mahdavikia (Iran)
Africa – Nadir Lamyaghri (Morocco)
South America – Juan Arango (Venezuela)
Central and North America – Rodolfo Antonio Zelaya (El Salvador)
Oceania – Tim Cahill (Australia)
