The passing year was interesting and rich in important events for the Ministry of Territorial Administration and the local self-government bodies, Minister of Territorial Administration Armen Gevorgyan told a press conference today.
2012 provided opportunities for stable development, local self-government elections were held in 815 communities, in 146 heads of community were reelected.
“In general, all elections were held in a normal, peaceful atmosphere. However, there were also certain problems, which make us adopt new solutions and approaches to reform the legislation,” the Minister said.
What is remarkable is that for the first time this year political parties had the opportunity to nominate members of City Councils.
The Minister informed that all in all 40 bln AMD was allocated to solve a number of urgent problems in marzes, of which 20 billion was provided in 2012. Considerable parts of the sum were allocated to solve the problems in border villages.
