Hranush Hakobyan: Armenia-Diaspora cooperation moving to a new level

Diaspora Minister Hranush Hakobyan summed up the results of the 2012. She said the results of the programs  are becoming tangible, the Armenia-Diaspora cooperation is moving to a new level, the Diaspora is uniting around the Motherland.

Among the important achievements the Minister emphasized the raise of trust in the Ministry’s activity, the diversification of the forms of cooperation. “The number of participants of the programs has doubled, the geography of countries has expanded,” she said.

For the first time the community organizations started implementing joint programs with the Ministry of Diaspora this year. “The cooperation continues developing based on new instruments and reinforcement of trust. Armenia’s stability, the trends of development, the improvement of the country’s international standing contribute to the development of Armenia-Diaspora cooperation,” Hranush Hakobyan said.

The Minister said the issues of Syrian Armenians were in the spotlight in the passing year. About 6,000 Syrian Armenian (2,000 families) moved to Armenia, more than 700 found jobs with the help of the Ministry of Diaspora. This year 14,239 citizens were granted Armenian citizenship, among them 4,465 were Syrian Armenians.

Speaking about the future programs, the Minister said the Armenian Genocide and the process of international recognition of the NKR independence will remain in the focus of attention.
