Composer Michel Legrand, who’s proud of his Armenian roots, will bring his new composition to Armenia. The work is dedicated to the Armenian Genocide of 1915, which his relatives suffered from.
“This will be an unusual composition for my listeners,” Yerkramas newspaper quotes Legrand as saying in an interview with the Rostov Official after his only concert in Rostov-on-Don.
Mr. Legrand has not yet decided how he will call the new piece, but he does not rule out the title “Requiem to Armenia.”
“At the turn of the 20th century part of Armenians suffered from Ottomans, others fell under the Communist regime. The tragedy of Armenians is comparable to the tragedy of the Jewish people,” Michel Legrand said.
The composer said he’s going to give a concert in Armenia.
