The Armenian Government confirmed today the state program of improvement of the demographic situation. The program aims to prevent the negative phenomena and stabilize the situation.
According to official statistics, the number of births has reduced almost twice over the past 23 years. The decreased number of marriages is considered to be one of the main reasons of low birth rate.
The 2013 program of improvement of the demographic situation envisages ensuring an increased number of births, reducing the infant mortality rate, improving the legislature related to demographic development, regulating the migration processes.
