Arthur Abraham to defend WBO title against Mehdi Bouadla today

Arthur Abraham will defend his recently-won WBO super middleweight title for the first time on December 15 in Germany, facing Mehdi Bouadla of France.

Abraham (35-3, 27 KO) defeated Robert Stieglitz on August 25, and there has been talk of a rematch between those two sometime in 2013. But first up will be Bouadla (26-4, 11 KO), a fighter most will really only know from his loss to Mikkel Kesler in June 2011.

“Abraham likely won’t have much more trouble than Kessler did, as he is a class or two firmly above the likes of Bouadla, and the best you can probably hope here is that the Frenchman can make it an entertaining fight. He has next to no shot at the upset and doesn’t really deserve the title shot in any way other than he’s a boxer who has won more often than he’s lost,” badlefthook.com writes.
