
The presidential elections will take place on February 18, 2013, Chairman of the Central Electoral Commission of Armenia Tigran Mukuchyan declared today.
According to Article 51 of the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia, the elections of the President are held fifty days prior to the expiration of his term of office.
Under Article 96 of the Electoral Code of the Republic of Armenia, the Chairman of the Central Electoral Commission should announce the date for presidential elections no later than 70 days before the election day.
Thus, based on the Constitution and the Electoral Code of the Republic of Armenia, the presidential elections will take place on February 18, 2013.
According to Article 96 of the Electoral Code, the day of presidential elections will be declared a day-off.
