President Serzh Sargsyan participated in the meeting of the Council of the Heads of the CIS member states in Ashgabat.
At the sessions conducted first in the closed and later in the extended formats, the Heads of delegation of the CIS member states discussed and adopted over twenty documents pertinent to the deepening of cooperation in the economic and humanitarian areas, security and some other areas.
It was decided to hold the next meeting of the Heads of the CIS member states in October 2013, in Minsk. Chairmanship of the CIS was passed on to Belarus.
In the framework of the Summit held in Ashgabat, President Serzh Sargsyan had a short meeting with the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin. The Presidents of the two countries discussed a number of issues on the Armenian-Russian strategic partnership agenda.
