Within the framework of the visit to Abu Dhabi Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian had a meeting with UAE Federal National Council Speaker Mohammed Ahmed Al Murr.
Welcoming the Armenian Minister of Foreign Affairs, the UAE Federal National Council Speaker expressed satisfaction with the established friendly relationship between the two countries and expressed confidence that the visit of the Armenian Minister of Foreign Affairs would contribute to the further strengthening of cooperation.
Edward Nalbandian and Mohammed Ahmed Al Murr exchanged views on the expansion of Armenia-UAE interaction, particularly stressed the importance of the intensification of inter-parliamentary ties.
The sides discussed a number of regional and global issues.
In Abu Dhabi Edward Nalbandian had talks with the UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed al-Nahayan.
The Foreign Ministers of Armenia and the UAE noted with satisfaction the dynamic development of the bilateral relations and agreed upon the dates of holding the first session of the inter-governmental commission, intensification of consultations between the MFAs, expansion of legal framework, development of economic cooperation and the steps undertaken towards the promotion of economic and cultural exchanges.
The two mutually stressed the importance to open UAE’s Embassy in Yerevan.
The Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Armenia and the UAE had a thorough talk on global agenda issue, the increase of a tension in and around Gaza Strip and the situation in Syria. Edward Nalbandian presented his Emirate counterpart the efforts exerted by Armenia and the international community towards the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh issue.
Ministers Edward Nalbandian and Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed al-Nahayan touched upon the cooperation in the international platforms and supporting of each other’s candidacies.
After the meeting, the Ministers signed an inter-governmental agreement on the air communications aimed at the regulation of air communications between the two countries.
Edward Nalbandian’s meeting with the UAE’s Minister of Foreign Trade Sheikha Lubna Al-Qasimi was devoted to the development of trade and economic cooperation between Armenia and the UAE.
Minister Al-Qasimi remembered with warmth his visit to Armenia and mentioned with satisfaction that the agreements reached during that visit have been already implemented.
The interlocutors discussed the activities carried out towards the creation of Intergovernmental commission for economic cooperation, and had a thorough talk on the issues related to the increase of the export volume of agricultural products from Armenia to the UAE.
On the same day Edward Nalbandian in the Armenian Embassy in Abu Dhabi had a meeting with the representatives of the Armenian community of the UAE.
