Armenian Human Rights Defender Karen Andreasyan is not satisfied with 2013 budget allocations. According to him, the financial means cover only half of the minimal needs of the Ombudsman’s Office.

Karen Andreasyan demands 11 mln additional funding and expects the support of the parliament on the issue.

In 2013 the government envisages 176 mln AMD for the Human Rights Defender’s Office, which is 1.5% more than last year.

Karen Andreasyan said they will continue to use grants in 2013, but will refuse from them in 2014.

Chairman of the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Financial-Credit and Budgeting Affairs Gagik Minasyan described the Ombudsman’s speech as ‘emotional’ and reminded that before demanding additional financing he should have informed what he was going to do with the money allocated.
