Institutes of ancient manuscripts of Yerevan and Rome launch cooperation

The delegation headed by Director of Rome’s Central Institute of Conservation and Restoration Maria Cristina Misiti visited Yerevan at the initiative of the Armenian Embassy in Italy.

Issues related to the possible cooperation between the Central Institute of Conservation and Restoration of Rome and Yerevan’s Matenadaran Institute of Ancient Manuscripts, implementation of joint programs were discussed. A protocol on cooperation was signed between the two institutions. Armenian Ambassador to Italy Ruben Karapetyan was present at the signing ceremony.

The document envisages cooperation in the field of conservation and restoration of manuscripts, reciprocal visits of specialists, enrollment of Armenian students in the five-year programs organized by the Institute of Conservation and Restoration.

The Italian delegation participated also in the second international seminar titled “Forms of Memory: Preservation and Restoration of Written and Printed Heritage.”
