Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian spoke about the Nagorno Karabakh issue during the discussions on the international situation held on the sidelines of the summit of the International Organization of the Francophonie.
The Minister underlined that the position of the international community on the settlement of the issue exceptionally in a peaceful way, which goes in line with the Armenian approach, has been voiced on many occasions by the Presidents of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairing countries – Russia, the United States and France. “Unfortunately, Azerbaijan continues to turn down the proposals targeted at the resolution of the issue,” he added.
On October 14 the summit adopted a final resolution on the settlement of crisis situations and reinforcement of peace, in which the member states of the International Organization of the Francophonie express their full support to the efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs.
“We call on all parties to the conflict to refrain from the use of force and the threat of force, which can jeopardize the peace process,” the document reads.
The resolution urges to continue the negotiations on the basis of the proposals of the Minsk Group Co-chairs, namely non-use of force or the threat of force, territorial integrity, equality of peoples and their right to self-determination.
