Two agreements signed between Armenia and the International Organization of the Francophonie

Two agreements were signed between the Republic of Armenia and the International Organization of the Francophonie (OIF) on the sidelines of the OIF summit in Kinshasa.

Under the agreements the parties will extend the teaching of the French language in Armenian educational establishments, open Francophone departments at Armenian libraries, intensify the cultural exchange with other Francophone countries, promote the preparation of materials about Armenia in French.

‘The agreements are a result of the existing close cooperation and we are glad to note the progress registered in the use of the French language in the fields of education, culture, communication and tourism,” Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian said in his speech.

OIF Secretary General Abdou Diouf said that “Armenia is one of the most active members of the organization although it joined the Francophone family as an associated member only in 2008.”
