The first cycling path was opened in Yerevan today upon the initiative of the Kanachastan (Green land) NGO and the Yerevan City Hall.

The cycling path stretches from the “Aragast” café in Oghakadzev (Circular) Park to the park near the monument of General Andranik.

Public opinion polls conducted last summer show that 90% of the population in Yerevan wants to see bicycle paths in the capital, 40% would like to ride a bike.

The cycling transport has widely developed in European countries over the past 30-40 years. The leaders are the Netherlands, Denmark, Finland, Germany and Sweden. Bicycles make up 29% of the vehicles in the Netherlands.
