The Azerbaijan Embassy has sent a note to the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs over the statements of German Ambassador to Armenia Reiner Morell. The statement came from spokesman for the Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan Elman Abdullayev.
Speaking to journalists in Yerevan the German Ambassador declared that “there should be a balance between the principles of territorial integrity and the right of peoples to self-determination” and added that Ramil Safarov’s release has damaged Azerbaijan’s reputation.
Abdullayev noted that the diplomatic mission of Azerbaijan in Berlin asked the German Foreign Ministry to organize a meeting with representatives of the Azerbaijani Embassy.
“If the information in Armenian media is proven, such statements of the German diplomat are not acceptable for Azerbaijan,” Abdullayev said.
